Many of you will be aware that June Cox died last June (2019), having suffered a short illness. She had been associated with the Festival over many decades, taking part as a child soon after the last war and in the mid-seventies joining the Music Committee. In 1999 she became Music Co-ordinator and in 2001 she was elected as Vice Chairperson, holding both positions for some years. 2012 was her last year of being Music Co-ordinator and she finally “retired” in 2017 when she was made a Lifetime Vice President and continued to take an active part in the Festival by being a Music Steward and fount of all knowledge up to and including the 2019 Festival. In 2015 she received an overdue 40-year Long-Service Award from The British and International Federation of Music Festivals. She will be greatly missed – her calm approach, professionalism and willingness to help wherever needed will be long remembered.
